The SP 20 is a semi-electronic machine with an electronic keyboard and an electronic (TTL) coding and decoding unit. The machine is powered by a induction motor, but the timing is crystal controlled. Speed is switchable between 50, 75 and 100 bauds.
The printing unit is based on a moving plastic type comb and each character of the line has its own printing hammer.
Tape reader is optoelectronical.

This particular machine on the photograph was in duty in a HF radio network of the German Federal Police and is equipped with a very special feature: automatic end of line CR/LF (carriage return/line feed).
